THIS SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED
Following an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO), consultation and subsequent call-in by the BANES Climate Emergency & Sustainability Panel, the closure of Winifred’s Lane has been made permanent, along with a ban on right-hand turns from Cavendish Road into Sion Hill East (aka Lansdown Crescent).
This scheme has had a significant impact on our area. At the call-in meeting, and in subsequent communications, the council said it will consider various ‘mitigations’ to address some of these issues, especially road safety.
The first ‘mitigation’ is a proposal to install an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera at the top of Cavendish Road, at the junction with Winifred’s Lane, Sion Hill West and Sion Hill East, to “support enforcement of the new no-right turn” into Sion Hill East.
The council’s own consultation on this scheme runs until 5th May and we encourage you to respond. Since the SHSRRA Committee will also submit a collective response on behalf of our members, we would like to gauge your opinions to ensure that this reflects local opinion.
We would also like your views on other potential mitigation schemes that the council might put forward, although each should be accompanied by its own official consultation at the time.
The following short survey should only take 2 minutes to complete. Please submit your response by Monday 27th April 2026.
ONLY ONE RESPONSE PER HOUSEHOLD PLEASE
Many thanks.
