There have been a number of local issues recently requiring individual response to the Council.  The Association Committee tries to put forward a consensus view on your collective behalf.  This is sometimes impossible.  If there is an issue on which you have a clear opinion we will try to support it, but it is always wise for you to make your own submission.

Parking

A number of visitors have received parking tickets because they have not seen the notices at the entry to our controlled zone.  These are not very prominent.  Do tell visitors that they can only park in designated spaces throughout Sion Hill and Summerhill Road.  We are still trying to get the Council to provide visitor spaces at the far end of Summerhill Road but the relevant Officers are for the moment unresponsive.

Bath Spa Sion Hill Campus

While Bath Spa University still has the long term aim to move out of the Sion Hill Campus there is no published date for this to happen.  It is unlikely to happen for the next two years.  In the recent consultation on the Local Plan Update we reiterated our view that the number of dwellings in any new development should be limited to 60.  There has been no published response.

Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN)

The planned Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) to implement the closure of Winifreds Lane and other measures has generated sufficient opposition that the Council has received a legal challenge.  As a result it has decided not to contest the action.  Consequently the project will have to be resubmitted at a future date.  Whatever form this takes it will generate controversy.  Concerned members need to keep an eye on any publicity as it appears.

Golf at High Common

The full 18 hole golf course is at last open and the foot golf course has been extended to 12 holes.  Uncertainty over Council policy and the weather have affected the quality of the greens.  However both are proving popular and users are warned before they start of the conditions prevailing.  Complaints have been pleasantly few.

Membership

There is  a steady turnover of residents and we would like to recruit the new ones.  Please either tell one of the committee of any you know or ask them to contact one of us.  Our current resident numbers stands at 74.

Future Social Events

Kingswood School Prep School has recently been given a 30 foot square marquee.  In return the school has agreed to allow our Association to use it for the occasional social event ant to erect it for us on the school grounds.  This may be useful in the future.
